6 Budget Friendly Self-Care Activities

What comes to mind when you think of self-care? 💆‍♀️

Do you think of lavish bubble baths, massages and days lounging at the spa? 💅 🛀 Sounds lovely - but expensive, right?!

Don’t get us wrong, all of those are fantastic options... but self-care doesn’t have to come with a price-tag!

There are PLENTY of ways to #treatyoself while on a budget - and many are even free!

Check out a few of our favorite ways to indulge in self-care on a budget below. 💕

Clean out the clutter 🧺

We know what you’re thinking, “Cleaning?! That sounds like a chore!” But trust us here. Spending some time organizing, tidying up or cleaning out your space can be seriously therapeutic! Clean out the junk drawer you’ve been neglecting, throw away all of the old receipts and snack wrappers out of your purse or go through your closet and make a pile of things you no longer wear. Even just taking 30 minutes to tidy up your main living spaces makes a huge difference in your mood, stress levels and overall well-being. Once you finish, light a candle, make a cup of tea and relish in how good a clean, organized space makes you feel! 😌

Get outside 🍃

Getting outside in nature to soak up some Vitamin D is one of the best self-care activities we have access to! Lay a blanket down in the grass and spend some time reading a good book, or even just stare up at the clouds passing by like you did as a kid. You can take a stroll around your local park letting the sun shine on your face or kick your socks and shoes off and feel the grass between your toes. Either way, we give ya a 100% satisfaction guarantee or your money back. Oh wait, nature’s free. 💁‍♀️

Journal ✍️

Journaling is another budget friendly self-care ritual that always makes us feel like a million bucks. You can switch up what you write about to cater towards whatever you’re feeling that day. Maybe you need to set a timer and brain dump everything racing through your mind onto paper, or make a simple list of everything you’re grateful for. If you’re feeling stuck, you can look up journaling prompts to get you started and let the self-care juices flow!

Meditate 🧘

There is NO price tag on meditation, and you can do it anytime or anywhere, making it a great budget friendly self-care activity! If the thought of sitting still and calming your mind doesn’t sound appealing, try a simple breathing exercise such as breathing in for 4 counts and exhaling for 4 counts. There are also tons of free apps where you can access guided meditations, many even for the theme of self-care! We recommend checking out the Calm app.

Reach out to people you love 👭

Connecting with friends and family on the phone or FaceTime is great but sometimes you just need a break from screen time, too. Plan a coffee date with a friend or schedule time to take a walk around the neighborhood with a coworker! If you’re not feeling social but still want to connect, channel your penpal days and try writing a letter or sending a postcard to a loved one. Everyone loves snail mail and you’ll feel great knowing you’re going to put a smile on their face when they open their mailbox! 😊

Go for a Walk 🚶🏽‍♀️

Seriously, when did going for a gentle walk outside become so underrated?! It’s a great time to disconnect from your phone and let your mind wander, but if that’s not for you, you can catch up on all of your favorite podcasts, too! You can check out a local park, hiking trail or even just stroll around your neighborhood. After a while, it gets meditative, and we guarantee, you’ll feel totally refreshed!
