What is activated charcoal?

Guidelines for consuming activated charcoal:


When researching activated charcoal and deciding which to try, look for one that is made of natural ingredients (coconut shells or named wood). Also try to avoid any that are sweetened with artificial sweeteners. Instead, sweeten with fresh juice or a natural sweetener like raw honey or even stevia. You can find activated charcoal supplements in both pill and powder form. Make sure to check the dosage recommendation for the specific supplement you purchase though. Dosage can range anywhere from 1 gram to 30 grams!


Also, be aware that activated charcoal can inhibit the absorption of nutrients, supplements, and medications. Be sure to take the activated charcoal at least 2 hours before consuming any food or prescriptions (unless otherwise noted). Potential negative reactions can occur with several drugs.
